Skyline Run 2008

In most cities, people enjoy their downtowns by walking through them. But since the primary way (besides the new really awesome lightrail) to get around in Charlotte is by speeding by inside a glass and steel box, we don’t take time to really experience the things our downtown has to offer. Personally, I love going downtown, but really the only time I go is in the evening. And I have to drive there.
There is an upcoming opportunity for any Charlottean to experience our Center City outside the confines of a car:
Date: April 26
Time: 8 am
Skyline Run Charlotte is a 5k mini-marathon that starts and ends in the heart of the city. Sponsored by Central Piedmont Community College, all of the proceeds go toward scholarships and other educational programs for the school. At 8 am on April 26, the course will start on CPCC’s campus and continue through the Elizabeth neighborhood. This area has a remarkable view of downtown, and the trees and flowers will be beautiful this time of year.
As a side note, I will NOT be running, so anyone else who feels that running five kilometers would require an oxygen tank and a new pair of legs can join me in the back of the pack. I plan to walk and take in our beautiful skyline.
