UNC Charlotte’s Robert Kosara blogs about chart comparing charts

Posted on 14 Apr 2011 by Justin Ruckman

Robert Kosara (@eagereyes), Assistant Professor of Computer Science at UNC Charlotte, recently wrote on the effectiveness of different types of charts, concluding that for all the bad rap pie charts get for being misleading, in many cases, they can be the most elegant solution.

Kosara’s post on his blog made it up the blogochain to Boing Boing today.

So I thought that was pretty cool. Tip o’ the hat, Robert. Be sure to read his full post.

Thanks for the link, but that was not actually my own work, it’s a paper by Ian Spence and Stephan Lewandowsky from 1991. It is aligned with some of my own research interests, though, like perceptual and cognitive effectiveness of charts and visualizations.
